Permit
Lisa, I'm moving this from the public space to the player boardroom. Don't think we should air our dirty laundry in public (B)
Lisa writes: "I know that Kenny had said he didn't want to pursue a permit for this one, but after learning that we might have players from Portland, I am wondering how big this is going to get.
Given that we are an active stakeholder in the park renovation process, I am not sure that avoiding a permit for this one is the best way to maintain a good working relationship with the park...
Comments welcome.
Kenny, in terms of jerseys, maybe you can simplify it by identifying team colours once you have teams set and it will be up to the individual players to wear that colour."

This tournament is capped at 36 players. I'm thinking of allowing 12 Islanders to participate which should allow for all East Vaners who want to play to do so. Please let me know asap if you intent to play. If we don't fill the 36 spots a couple/few weeks before the event then Seattle/Portland may be invited to fill the remainder of openings.
this is ken's deal so let ken take care of it....
permit seems unnecessary for a glorified day of pick-up...
Pieter posted to the listserv last night that he told people in Portland about it while he was there and that they are excited to come...
I think putting a cap on it might be a good idea, but you'll have to figure out a way of letting people know.
I realize you were trying to keep this one on the down low...
Hey, I haven't advertised this on bikepolo.ca so not sure how Portland might have heard of this unless locals have taken the liberty of inviting folks. Who's said they might be coming from Portland? I've invited Victoria and nanaimo. I want to keep this small, perhaps I should cap it at 36 people; 4 teams of 9. The last thing I want to do is compromise our relationship with the park. I would sooner cancel the event than screw us over. If people feel strongly that having a small event such as this without a permit might hurt our chances of getting our court built speak up.
There won't be tents set up, for boards I was planning on just using the corners we have at night court and nothing more. Basically it should appear as a busy day of pick up.
Announcing teams in advance with a designated colour would keep it nice and simple and avoid any costs.
