Inaugural Bike Polo Hockey Challenge
Times:
6 Mar 2010 - 11:00am
Venue:
Grandview Park
The first ever Bike Polo Hockey Challenge takes place at Grandview Park. There will be 3x20 mins periods, 4-6 teams, 6 plus players per team.
I'm expecting four teams of approximately 9 players, but if you can let me know if you want to play for numbers so I can adapt the format of the tourney accordingly.

So Kenny - my diary is marked. Do you select the teams or do we have to put a team together?
Good question Bob. I suppose I should clarify a few things. All you need to do is let me know if you are planning on playing and you will be registered. Once you are registered you will be assigned your team. Yes I'm making the teams which I'll try to make as fair as possible; I'll probably consult some of you. Teams will obviously have players with different levels of experience and you will be encouraged to give everyone equal playing time. It might not be possible to 'enforce' this, it's just a matter of sportsmanship.
3 x 20 min periods with 2 min breaks between periods. This means there will be lots of down time between games. Hang out and watch the other games or go to night court for some pick up.
No time out's for mechanical reasons; just get a sub. Time will stop if there are injuries.
I'm hoping to get at least two sets of hockey jerseys so any spectators will more easily be able to figure out what's going on as well as players won't get confused as to who's on their team. Blank jerseys would be great but it doesn't really matter as long as we have two different colors. Six or more of each would be optimal so teams can make full line changes. I figure two sets would be enough and when your team is finished playing they can pass them on to the next team. If we could get four sets of jerseys that would be better since I am expecting there to be four teams. If anyone knows where some inexpensive jerseys could be had please let me know.
I'll give you more info closer to the event. Please let me know sooner rather than later if you are going to play.
This tournament is capped at 36 players. I'm thinking of allowing 12 Islanders to participate which should allow for all East Vaners who want to play to do so. Please let me know asap if you intent to play. If we don't fill the 36 spots a couple/few weeks before the event then Seattle/Portland may be invited to fill the remainder of openings.
I thought I already put this up here but I guess my post didn't take: I'm in.
